The Wise Men arrive

Pastor Commentaries,

The Wisemen are given 12 verses in all of scripture, yet they are such a predominate part of the Christmas Story.  The Wisemen are intriguing, mysterious and, well, wise.  They appear out of nowhere, are really out of context (at the beginning this is a Jewish story.  What are people from the East doing there?) and then they disappear without a trace.  I am fascinated by the Magi.

That said, the Christmas story isn’t about them, and they are very aware of this.  The story is about Jesus and their excitement to meet Him must have been overwhelming.  There are only a handful of people that meet Jesus early in His life who are aware of who He is.  The Magi are such people.

Which leads to this insight:  no matter how outside you are with Jesus, you are free to come to Him.  If strange men from the East, outside of the Jewish nation, whom we have very little understanding of, are free to come to the baby Jesus, then so is anyone.  Jesus was born for all, how much you feel like an outsider doesn’t matter.  With Christ there are no outsiders.
