Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is delighted to announce our collaboration with Feltham Community Development Association and Feltham Station Adopters in historic Feltham in the London Borough of Hounslow, England where the England Connects National Mural will be installed on April 15^th, 2024.

This England National Mural is a one-of-a-kind art collaboration bringing together hundreds of artists in England and throughout the world to paint a tile representing our global connections to one another. This visual legacy mural reflects the beauty and power of collaboration, and shows us that when we come together, we can create a remarkable lasting artistic reminder of our shared experiences.

Since 2003, Mural Mosaic has been creating art that celebrates unity and diversity through awe inspiring mosaic productions. Using the Mural Mosaic process invented by artist Lewis Lavoie, the mission of our work is to bring people together in a way that honors everyone’s unique perspectives and experiences. They have produced Mural Mosaics throughout North America and now with Global Roots, the World – inspiring viewers to recognize the beauty of our differences and come together in united work of art.

Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is delighted to become part of the Feltham community, to have the opportunity to inspire artists and aspiring artists of the future with this remarkable mural. We hope that it will serve as a source of inspiration for those who view it, and that it will encourage them to explore their creative potential.

“We are excited to host the England Connects National Mural in Feltham. Feltham is a proud and historic community, originally founded as a ‘field town’ in the middle of the sprawling Hounslow Heath, which spread as far as Windsor. Over the centuries, Kings and Queens would come hunting across the surrounding landscape, including Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. In 1638, Charles I built a royal river through the town to bring water to Hampton Court Palace. In the twentieth century, the area was known for its industrial and engineering past, hosting London’s first air park, pioneering the golden age of aviation and hosting Aston Martin’s factory for their most iconic era.

Today, Feltham is home to people from around the world. Its location next to London’s Heathrow airport means that many people pass through, including the family of Freddie Mercury – who lived in Feltham, alongside his fellow Queen bandmate Brian May. However, for many the area is only known for the nearby Young Offenders Institution. Feltham’s community is also growing, with plans for many new homes, in the area surrounding the station. Hosting this mural is about bringing together the past, present and future, connecting the community and bringing people together. The location of the mural, prominently positioned next to the footpath ramp from the train station that leads to the airport bus symbolises these connections. Each collaborative Mural Mosaic production invites people from communities everywhere to connect and celebrate their unity through their diverse expressions of art. With each tile placed in a mural, Global Roots is reconnecting the world through the joy of art – one tile, one mural mosaic, one country at a time.
