Title: “Common Loon – Symbol of Currency
Because of its pan-Canadian habitat the “Common Loon” was depicted on the $20 banknote “Birds of Canada” series. Originally, this tranquil Loon was to appear on the $1 bill which was dropped in favor of a “loonie” coin, making this recognizable voice of the north an iconic symbol of Canada.
