Title: Blue Morpho Butterfly

This beautiful iridescent butterfly species is found in the Amazon Rainforest. Small scales reflect light to produce it’s dazzling colour array. Their wingspan can measure up to 12 cm, only males are blue, and they do not feed at this stage in their life cycle. As a defence mechanism, they close their wings & are camouflaged muted grey with large ‘eye spots’ to detract predators. The life cycle & metamorphosis of the Butterfly is one of nature’s true miracles. A symbol of new beginnings, challenges and beauty in all of life’s stages
