PRESS RELEASE

April 8th, 2026

Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is delighted to announce our collaboration with Shelbyville, Indiana where the America Connects Nature’s Gift National Mural will be unveiled on June 4^th, 2026.

This America Connects National Mural is a one-of-a-kind art collaboration bringing together hundreds of artists in the USA and throughout the world to paint a tile representing our global connections to one another. This visual legacy mural reflects the beauty and power of collaboration, and shows us that when we come together, we can create a remarkable lasting artistic reminder of our shared experiences.

Since 2003, Mural Mosaic has been creating art that celebrates unity and diversity through awe inspiring mosaic productions. Using the Mural Mosaic process invented by artist Lewis Lavoie, the mission of our work is to bring people together in a way that honors everyone’s unique perspectives and experiences. They have produced Mural Mosaics throughout North America and now with Global Roots, the World – inspiring viewers to recognize the beauty of our differences and come together in united work of art.

“This project is about more than a mural—it’s about giving our young people a permanent place in the story of Shelbyville,” said Jenna Martin, Director of Public Relations for the City of Shelbyville. “These tiles represent individual voices, but together they create something much bigger. It’s a reminder that this community continues to grow, evolve, and invest in the next generation.”

Mayor Scott Furgeson added, “Morrison Park has always been a place where our community reflects and remembers. This mural honors that history while also looking forward. It represents the families who have built Shelbyville and those who will shape its future. Projects like this matter because they create connection—and that’s what strong communities are built on.”

Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is delighted to become part of the Shelbyville community, to have the opportunity to inspire artists and aspiring artists of the future with this remarkable mural. We hope that it will serve as a source of inspiration for those who view it, and that it will encourage them to explore their creative potential.

Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots is a unique initiative that aims to bring people from around the world together through the power of art. Each collaborative Mural Mosaic production invites people from communities everywhere to connect and celebrate their unity through their diverse expressions of art. With each tile placed in a mural, Global Roots is reconnecting the world through the joy of art – one tile, one mural mosaic, one country at a time.
