Teaching Statement:

Métis families have been working to recover and reclaim their knowledge and pride in their heritage since the era of forced assimilation. The importance of strong family ties and cultural roots has always been a cornerstone of Métis identity.

Reflective Questions:

How might educators support Métis families in their reclamation efforts? How can the school/classroom act as a bridge to encourage pride in Métis culture?  How might trauma-informed teaching assist in those endeavours?
