Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is pleased to announce our collaboration with Brechin Community Hub for the installation of the Scotland Connects National Mural Mosaic in Brechin, Scotland on April 19^th, 2024.

Artists of all skill levels throughout Scotland and many parts of the world have come together to produce hundreds of paintings in the Scotland National mural. Each artist has contributed a unique tile to the mural, representing their reflections of how we are all connected. With its vibrant colors and each painting’s style and expression, this mosaic serves as a reminder of the power of collaboration.

Since 2003, Mural Mosaic has been creating art that celebrates unity and diversity through awe inspiring mosaic productions. Using the Mural Mosaic process invented by artist Lewis Lavoie, the mission of our work is to bring people together in a way that honors everyone’s unique perspectives and experiences. We have produced Mural Mosaics throughout North America and now with Global Roots, the World – inspiring viewers to recognize the beauty of our differences and come together in united work of art.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to have the Scotland National Mural as permanent work of art in the Brechin community. We hope to inspire artists to continue to paint in a way that brings them joy, to celebrate connection and encourage everyone to share with one another.

Just months ago, many residents of our city of 7000 people were badly affected by Storm Babet which resulted in houses suffering from 6 metres of flooding and around 250 homes being wrecked. We are working with the community on a daily basis to ensure that the impact is as small as possible . The mental and physical results of 1000 people being made homeless, businesses making staff redundant, life’s possessions being ruined, and the community being decimated and moved elsewhere is having a huge effect.

We see the mosaic tree as a fantastic symbol of unity and coming together as one, which we recognize is a key building block towards recovery.’ Grant Hutchison, Community Development Manager

Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots is a unique initiative that aims to bring people from around the world together through the power of art. Each collaborative Mural Mosaic production invites people from communities everywhere to connect and celebrate their unity through their diverse expressions of art. With each tile placed in a mural, Global Roots is reconnecting the world through the joy of art – one tile, one mural mosaic, one country at a time.
