When I saw my panel I thought these two very attractive horses would fit in with the colouring and shapes. The lovely thing was that when I went to see these two ,(owned by the Gray family) horses that I had painted about ten years ago, were still there and looking wonderful! Sam (Samantha Gray) the owner/rider, has written a short history of their successes as follows:—–
Bay Horse Kala Pattar, stable name, Eric. Thoroughbred by Thowra out of Manon Lescaut, born 1995. Was in racing until 2000 and ran 3 times in bumper races. Didn’t like racing and in2000 was given to me as a competition horse. He evented until 2005 and won or was placed nearly every time out. Qualified for the Intro Championships 2003. As he was good at dressage, in 2005 changed career to that and has been successful and competed up to Medium level.
Chestnut horse,Trefeinon Orange Blob, stable name Blobby. By Escapism (TB) out of Blackberry Lass (working hunter show pony) Born1990. I was given the ride in 1998 when the previous owners daughter went to college. Competed successfully up to Novice level, British Eventing in one and two day events. Sidelined with injury for two years, retired from eventing in 2006, but is still out competing at Riding Club level. Has represented the local riding club on many occasions including at The Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead.
