The colors and the line that I needed to maintain as part of this composition really stumped me for a while. I searched through quite a lot of my photo references to come up with the paint horse in the lead. I had taken photos on the Calgary Stampede horse drive in 2005.The large paints markings worked perfect to keep the line in this panel which, to my surprise, was the under part of the panel horse left knee!
