Artist Comments:
I am in love with the black feathers, the Friesians. All horses move me, and they all bring tears to my eyes when I see them run in fun and spirit. Friesians seem like the ultimate to me. I met Zorro 4 or 5 years ago,( he is a national and grand champion stallion), and have been taking photos of him ever since. I fully intended on him being on this panel, but after contacting Zorro’s people, I was convinced that Vanyel (Zorro’s stable mate) was the one to do. He came from top lines, Laes of the Netherlands. With the death of Laes, the hopes were to have his colt carry on, and Vanyel did. Unfortunately, Vanyel himself passed on leaving sadness to those who loved him. I had to do this memorial for him and them. The statement that follows shows the love they had for him.
I quote ” This page is devoted to one of the loves of my life (next to my husband, of course) – our Friesian Stallion : Vanyel. The elegance and presence and “Kingly” mannerisms that he possesses rolled up along with a great deal of charm and fabulous sense of humor make this one of the greatest horses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. This great majestic creature trotted up to me one morning with the disassembled arm of a white lawn chair looking like Dino from the Flintstones and oh so proud of himself. He never fails to amaze me and to this day seeing him in action gives me goosebumps- these characteristics that endear him so to me he passes on to his babies. Vanyel in his first year showing in hand at the recognized dressage shows is consistently scoring in the upper 60’s and 70’s. 2002 he was UNDEFEATED in Aged Stallions.” A quote by Arden Liotta Goudy of Blackshire Equestrian
